Corene A. Lobeck passed into her heavenly home on January 15, 2018 surrounded by family in her apartment at North Woods Commons. She was born on October 19, 1926 in Gideon, MO to Walter E. and Edna Miller. She was married to J. Lowell Downs in 1944. On July 26, 1963 she married Melvin H. Lobeck who preceded her in death on February 11, 2009.
She worked at Delco Electronics as a clerk for 23 years, retiring in 1986. Later she was the secretary at New Fairlawn Church and a receptionist at the Kokomo YWCA.
Corene was an active woman, teaching ballroom dancing in her early years. Hobbies over the years included golf, sewing, crochet, counted cross stitch, painting and adult coloring. She enjoyed travel with her husband, Mel, but her favorite trip was to Israel in 1993 with her two daughters, Pat and Debi. She taught Bible study for nearly 30 years with her last class at age 90. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Shrock, Greentown and Debra (Clyde) Thompson, Gallatin, TN. Two stepdaughters Carolyn Helvie and Kathy Lobeck both of Kokomo. Three granddaughters, Ricque (Kevin) Roberts Adkinson, Sharpsville, Holly (Donnie) Gordon, Hendersonville, TN, Heather (Adam) Yockey, Nashville, TN. Surviving step grandchildren are Kristi Whitaker and Kimberly Jefferson both of Kokomo and Scotty Lobeck, Tipton. Great grandchildren Dylan Davis, Sharpsville, Dalton Davis, Sharpsville and Kara Gordon, Hendersonville, TN. One great great granddaughter, Berkeley Anne Boruff, Kokomo, daughter of deceased great granddaughter Darian Davis. Many special nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Lobeck; parents Walter and Edna Miller; three brothers: Charles Miller, Edward Miller and Meinert "Mac" Miller; one sister, Gwen Maloney; a great granddaughter, Darian Davis; a stepson Melvin Lobeck and and a step grandson, Michael Lobeck.
Celebration of her homecoming will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 am, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, officiated by Pastor David Leeder. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden, Chapel of Peace. There will be a time of visitation on Friday, January 19 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 p.m., also at the mortuary.
